ConanMug-2009Welcome to warp.byu.edu, my home on the web. I am an Associate Professor of Information Systems at Brigham Young University. I teach intermediate and enterprise Java programming to students in the ISys Core. I research topics on group support systems, computer-aided fraud detection, and ecommerce architectures.

I am an active software developer. For the past few years, Python has been my favorite language. I run Debian Linux servers when I have the choice, and my primary machine is a 17″ Apple MacBook Pro. Some of my favorite programs include SSH, TextMate (text editor), and Path Finder (the definitive Finder replacement). I believe in open source and well-written software.

A few favorite iPhone apps are Five Icon Dock (from Cydia), Flashlight (from Cydia), iWard (for LDS folks), Koi Pond (always a crowd pleaser), Kindle (a nice companion to a real Kindle), PdaNet (the reason to jailbreak), the LDS scriptures, and FieldRunners.

When I’m not teaching, researching, or developing, I spend time with family, mountain biking, reading, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and skiing.
